There are many users out there who get scammed. Unfortunately, we can't just stop scamming altogether - but we can stop people from getting scammed.
Types of Scams
Trusting
Although trusting has mostly been removed through the new trade system, people find ways around it. Someone might tell you that you have to accept the trade twice and the person has to receive the items in order for you to win something, or they might tell you to click the accept button twice and they promise they will decline. You cannot believe people when they say these as it's a very common form of scamming.
Liking Masterpieces
While you don't actually lose any items, some people will try to trick you and ask you to like their masterpiece. They may claim that at a certain amount of likes they'll give away an item, but this is most likely a lie.
Gifting
If someone asks you to gift them something and claims they will gift you something better, don't gift them. Maybe troll them by gifting a necklace!
Trading more than 20 items
Some people may ask for more than 20 items for their item, for example, a black long collar. Usually they will require you to trade some of the items for their bad item first - unfortunately, most people scam this way. It's best to avoid trades of over 20 items altogether.
Offsite trades
Some people may want to make an offsite trade with you, such as Animal Jam items for Flight Rising items. Again, this is a very common method of scamming and one may ask you to give your share of the items first and end up leaving and blocking you.
Borrowing
Sometimes, somebody may ask to borrow one or more of your items, usually to "try it on". This is almost always a scam and should not be trusted - you'll only end up with a few lost items and a lost buddy.
My List for Item
A lot of times you may see people asking for a certain not-so-known item in one of its rarer colors, for example, a pink shark fin. They may say they will trade their entire list for one, which could have headdresses, spiked collars, and a lot more which is a massive overpay for their item. But then in the same room you could see another person who has said item on trade. This is usually a scam, where the person will accept overpay for their item and then leave the room. Do not trust them.
Tips
1. Don't trust ANYONE. Even if they promise or swear they will hold up their end of the bargain, people lie all the time. It's more trouble than it's worth.
2. Don't do trades of over 20 items. It's pretty easy to get scammed this way. Like I stated before, it's better to avoid trades like these altogether.
3. If an offer, trade, or deal ever seems too shady or too good to be true, don't do it.
4. If the people trading claim the item is glitched, look it up before trading so you know it's not a trick.
5. If someone claims their trade is fair and you're not sure if it is, do some research beforehand - but do NOT look at blogs for answers, as these are usually very outdated!
